Launch Pad TV

Launch Pad TV is the media outlet for Pursuing A Dream Corporation which provides helpful resources.   The show features educational resources, activities, and businesses and professionals with backgrounds in the areas related to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). In addition, the organization post the Launch Pad Newsletter quarterly and it features more in-depth information.  

The new Launch Pad TV purpose is to create an educational community dedicated to exploring educational trends and further showing the impact of S.T.E.M.

    The Launch Pad is dedicated to providing educational resources and activities to its viewers.

    This segment focused intensely on college preparation, the show's guest included Sue Rogan, Director of Financial Education at Maryland CASH (Creating, Assets, Savings and Hope) Campaign; Samantha Howard, Coordinator of Career Services and Community Relations at Prince George's Community College and Annissa Grimes, Director  of  Career Services at MedTech College.

    Today we spoke with Charlie Garlow of the Electric Vehicle Association of the Greater Washington, DC about the benefits of an electric vehicle and learn energy conservation tips from Pepco.  

  • Preparing For Technology Careers

    For those interested in a career in the technology  field then this segment of  The Launch Pad tackled the topic of how universities are training students for the IT workforce.  Representatives from Bowie State University and DeVry University joined us for a great discussion.   Also take a tour of The National Radio and Television  Museum.

    The Launch Pad was joined in the studio by Darryl Barnes, President of Men Aiming Higher and Michelle Dunn, Founder of MYGIFT Program, incorporated to discuss the importance of mentoring youth in the DC Metropolitan area.

    Check out this episode about aviation, The Launch Pad took an closer look at flying, we interviewed a member of the Civil Air Patrol then learn more about the College Park Aviation Museum.   Also we interviewed a pilot and took flying lessons at the Freeway Airport in Bowie, Maryland.

    Part one of a two part segment that highlights programs that focus on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).   Dr. James Turner, Director of the Percy Julian Institute speaks about the benefits of the program.

  • STEM Programs Making A Difference
    Part two of a two part segment that highlights programs that focus on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).  We explored a STEM program for females called The Pearl Project.  Also we learned how the Bootstrap curriculum helps enhance teaching at a elementary school in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.  In addition, Big Learning provided details about their science and engineering curriculum.  
  • The Importance of Mentoring
    Join us for a discussion about mentoring, our guest entailed:   Walter Kirkland, President, 100 Black Men of Prince George's County, Maryland; Tony Wilson, Founder, Will To Win, Incorporated; and Lisa McClure, Girl Scouts of Central Maryland.  
  • Exploring The Field of Psychology
    The Launch Pad focused on the field of psychology and in honor of Women's History Month our guest were two female clinical psychologist.  Also The Association of Black Psychologist provided the history and importance of Afrocentric counseling approaches.
  • Trends In Education

    Today The Launch Pad had the opportunity to explore new trends in education with representatives from the Society for the Advancement of Hispanics/Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS), National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Blacks in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (NOBCChe).   Also we were joined by Dr. Frank Portugal, Clinical Associate Professor of Biology and Director of MS Biotechnology Program.  

  • Innovation In Education

    This segment included an interview with Mr. Isaac Ferebee, an  extraordinary local student who shared the keys to his academic success, then we interviewed Imagination Destination, an organization that encourages creativity and teambuilder in K-12 students in Prince George's County, Maryland.   Also meet Bomani Armah, local a parent who utilizes a unique approach to home schooling and learn how the U.S. Coast Guard Academy prepares students to work in the twenty first century.

  • Exploring Title Stars
    What makes astronomy fun, well hear the answer from Joe Novotka of the Goddard Astronomy Club and Planetary Patty, a teacher at the Howard B. Owens Science Center in Prince George's County, Maryland.
  • State of Education in the Minority Community
    The Launch Pad welcomed Mr. Jesse Parker of the Seward Academy to discuss strategies for motivating minority students.  Also Ms. Sue Rogan of the Maryland C.A.S.H. Campaign spoke about how her organization assist low income families. 
  • Women In STEM part I
    This is a two part segment that explored the issue of lack of female involvement in degrees and occupations in STEM related fields.  
  • Women In STEM part II
    This is a two part segment that explored the issue of lack of female involvement in degrees and occupations in STEM related fields.
  • Mentoring
    The Launch Pad got a chance to interview representatives from Miss Believe and Wide Angle Youth Media about the importance of mentoring.  
  • S.T.E.M. Resources

    The Launch Pad had the opportunity to interview representatives from the Rockville Science Center and the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) regarding their S.T.E.M. programs.

  • Sustainability

    Information regarding new car technology that is environmentally friendly.

  • Impact of S.T.E.M. on Education 

    Video speaks about the importance of S.T.E.M. being integrated into K-12 curriculum.

Video segments can be ordered from the Programs Page.  Also shipping and handling fees are included in the price.  A portion of each purchase will be contributed to our Pennies for Change and Future Leaders Scholarship (FLS).  These scholarship funds were established to give financial support for high school and college students.
